Hey voyagers,
/trv/ is a slow board, so don't expect immediate responses. CHECK THE CATALOG – you might find threads already discussing topics you're interested in.

Before asking for suggestions, tell /trv/ about your:
>Budget
>Interests
>Level of understanding of the local language(s)
This makes it easier to give quality advice. Of course, keep your posts travel related.

I keep hearing
>Japan is a great place to visit, but a terrible place to live!
Those who've both travelled and lived in Japan, is this true? If so, why?

I visited Japan last year, I know that obviously being on vacation with no commitments is a completely different experience from living somewhere and having a job, but still, to me it seemed like a place I would be happy to work in.

>can go for a walk at night and don't have to get worried about getting robbed by a crackhead
>know that if I leave my wallet somewhere, it'll still be there when I get back
>if you live in a major city, you don't need a car, can basically get to anywhere in the country by bullet train
>japanese people are polite, pleasant to be around, and keep to themselves which is great for an autistic introvert like me

I know that Japan's working culture is extreme, but that only really applies to actual Japanese people, right? As a foreigner you won't really be expected to conform to any of the strict social rules

I would love to go live in Japan for a few months every year, or for a few years at a time (a few years in Japan, a few years in America, a few years in Japan, etc.) forever but I would not want to live there full time for the rest of my life.
>>

Well it's a good thing I'm only half-Indian then, but guess what? Whites are just as much of a problem in Japan too. Also Brits and Americans are fucking disgusting, you smell of raw meat and piss everywhere you go and never even wash your hands. How about you agree to stay in your country and we'll do the same? Fucking asshole. Not only are you people not informed on the reality of the world at all, but you're arrogant and delusional beyond compare. Nobody likes you in Asia, you're nothing more than a curiosity to be oogled at.

>But these last few years have made it an impossible place to leave, and having that choice stripped away from me is really disheartening.
What made it impossible? Do you have a stack of yen that is becoming increasingly worthless, so now you can't afford anywhere else?

Cialis if you can tolerate it has excellent daily use cases. It's a vasodilator that also has a tendency to increase free test levels by around 10-20%. I just have to be careful drinking heavy on it because it can drop me into low blood pressure if I have used it daily.

All fags who talk about Cambodia being "super cheap" have never provided evidence for their claims.

Everything seems completely comparable in price to Thailand at a much lower quality. There's youtube vids on the subject and the Cambodia fags always get BTFO.

I don't understand the autism around Cambodia for the /realtraveler/ meme-people. Just because a place is more dirty and less civilized doesn't mean it's better. You should be going to India if that's the case.

I'll just continue assuming Cambodia fags are pedophiles which is the secret reason they try to attack the massively superior Thailand.

Almost any city center in Europe is going to be walkable; one of my favorites is the old walled center of Lucca, in Tuscany, which is basically car-free. European city centers are also typically well-served by transit; my home “city” of Basel, Switzerland is both walkable or bikeable for the most part, and thoroughly covered by trams or buses even way out into distant suburban villages where it might be too far for most people to want to walk. I sold my car five years ago when I moved into the center and have never missed it at all, although I do rent cars short-term when running some errands, especially cross-border, or hauling anything really big or heavy.

In the US, most of NYC, DC, Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco are very easy to stay in without driving, although SF is hilly and in some parts nearly as sketchy as its reputation (although most of the city isn’t nearly as bad as people fear).
>>
Chamonix France for sure. The whole main street through town is car free. One street over, they have free busses to all of the nearby ski resorts and towns that run all day. If you're there in the summer and want to go to Italy, you can take a ski lift over the mountain and down the other side into Courmayeur.
>>
Central area of Florence is literally a massive plaza. And the places where cars can fit are usually only for delivery people and such

>What is this thread? Why are there two generals?
/rcg/ was initially created as a way for the roller coaster enthusiasts on here to discuss all things roller coasters and theme parks. While roller coasters are the main focus of these threads (and the title of the general) there is also discussion on other theme parks, their rides, as well as the parks themselves and trip planning too. That's where /tpg/ comes in.
>Can I talk about Disney/Universal parks in this thread?
Absolutely! Disney discussion of all sorts including rides/resorts/dining/trip planning is OK.

Thread Tip Pro: When in line for a coaster with a bunch of normies, feel free to autistically infodump to them every single iota of information you know about the ride you are about to go on: opening date, manufacturer, # of inversions, stats etc.

This is why most people recommend avoiding park food unless it's a decently priced confection like a funnel cake or ice cream. Most park "restaurants" are just overpriced cafeterias (with trays). You and pops could've just walked out to Downtown and gotten a big ass sandwich from Earl or a burger from the black tap. Rise is overrated though.

Around this time next year I'll just be finishing off a ski season in Hokkaido, Japan. I expect I'll have around ~5k USD equiv. budget and I want to explore picrel area. I should probably head home to the UK around the end of august/beginning of september. Which countries should I visit, which ones should I spend the most time in and which ones should I skip? I'm especially interested in countries like Thailand and Vietnam. How should I budget if I am planning around 4 months of travelling around here on ~5k. Do I need a higher budget? Any info is appreciated.

I Live in Morocco and i'm planing to go travel to a city but i don't wanna stay at an hotel, I kind of want to just stay outdoors and sleep somewhere where people will not notice me or even thugs too. I kind of want to experience something new, Like just be away from my city, I cannot afford a cheap hotel but i can travel.
My Country is known for having thugs, criminals and robbers at night, But still I kind of want a good advice from someone who had done that or even someone from my country

I lived in Morocco for 6 months, I'd say it's overall safe, but still, be careful. The people are not violent (also there's tons of cops everywhere, even undercover cops) but they will try to scam you in every imaginable way.
One problem I see to your idea is that social life goes on until really late in Morocco, shops are open and people are out until midnight or longer (because everything dies down at noon/afternoon because of the heat), so you'll need to stay up way into the night for things to quiet down.
In the city centers and touristic areas people will see you as a tourist and try to take advantage of you, but I found that the further away from that you get, the nicer the people become. Good luck anon, and please share your stories! When are you going? I lived in Tangier btw
